Framing Posters and Photos

Everyone likes to keep posters and photos around and it’s common to put them on the wall as well. The problem is that it’s often difficult to do without damaging the item. Tape doesn’t work for the long term, and it is disappointing to need to poke holes with thumbtacks or push pins. The key is to put your posters and photos in a frame and then hang this frame on the wall!

The first thing to know is that you must typically avoid the framing shops that you will see in most towns. These are very expensive places where you are likely to be asked to pay $100 or more for a custom framing job! This is probably a good business to be in, but $100 is more than the cost or value of most of our posters! The better solution is to buy a frame and do it yourself. When purchasing a frame, you will save a lot of money by buying a pre-made frame in a standard size.

For example, even if your photo is 16×18 inches, you may want to get a 16 by 20 inch frame because this is a standard size that can be purchased cheaply. A good place to look for frames is a crafts store or art store. You can also look at Ikea. If you are not in a rush, lots of frames are available at a substantial discount online. You can choose to add glass, but most frames come with a plastic sheet that will be sufficient for most framing jobs.
